Business implementation tips

To successfully use TA e-certification, several TAs have found that a number of aspects need to be considered.

How will you incorporate TA e-certification into your organisation?

Making the decision

  • Most TAs chose to take up e-certification to provide a better service to their customers
  • They found that an enthusiastic in-house 'champion' is invaluable to help the TA through the process, from assisting with the intial decision through to implementation
  • Decisions about how your TA will manage electronic certifications and how these will integrate into your document or information management systems may have to be made
  • When moving from a paper environment to e-certification, you may find current plan signing delegations require review – you will need to consider revising plan signing delegations and who will be using the Landonline application.

Document management considerations

  • The way TAs record documentation once it has been certified varies for each organisation
  • Consideration will have to be given to the best way to manage survey plan images when you move to e-certification.

Your IT environment and security

  • Most TAs using TA e-certification have had no problems downloading Landonline software when their in-house IT staff were involved in the early stages
  • Digital Certificates are the key to Landonline's security and all users must have one – downloading and use of Digital Certificates needs to be carefully managed as they cannot be shared

Impact on business processes

  • Changing business processes will vary from council to council and may depend on the size of the organisation
  • Most of the councils consulted had few issues when changing their processes
  • Processes most affected related to administrative changes.
