Operating system and browser support
The operating system and web browser on your PC system can affect your ability to run the software needed for Landonline. The older your system is, the more problems you are likely to encounter. LINZ's ability to assist you in overcoming these problems is defined by the system that you operate.
The latest version of Landonline is tested against the most widely used operating systems and browsers at the time of each release for compatibility. There are regular reviews of these supported operating systems and browsers.
In principle, LINZ endeavours to:
- provide technical support for Landonline software running on the current (when LINZ testing has been completed) and immediately preceding version of supported operating systems and web browsers
- advise you in advance when support for a version is being terminated (i.e. moving from 'supported' to 'not supported')
- e-survey users: for Offline Plan Generation operating system and browser support information, refer to the Offline Plan Generation section on this website
Supported
Currently, LINZ supports Landonline running on the following operating systems and web browsers:
| Operating System: |
|
|---|---|
| Browser: | Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9 |
Note that supported versions do not include beta versions or home-type editions.
Not supported
If you choose any other operating system and browser than those listed above as supported, you will need to rely on your IT support staff or service provider to help you with any technical issues. Specifically, LINZ is unable to assist you if you use Landonline software on the following:
| Operating System: |
|
|---|---|
| Browser: | Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 5 or earlier, Mozilla |
Important Note
If you intend to purchase a PC that will be used for accessing Landonline you need to be aware that most vendors choose the 64 bit installation option when pre-installing higher end versions of Windows 7. Landonline software is not compatible with 64 bit Windows 7, so it is important that you specify that you require the 32 bit option preinstalled instead.
If you have already purchased your PC and it has 64 bit Windows 7 installed, you will need to reinstall the 32 bit option yourself. All packaged retail editions of Windows 7 (except for Home Basic) include both 32-bit and 64-bit installation discs, however if you did not receive installation discs as part of the purchase, you will need to ask the vendor to either supply the 32 bit discs, or to perform the reinstallation on your behalf. If you have a laptop or PC with a Restore partition you should consult with your vendor to determine the most appropriate reinstallation process.
For further information about switching between 32 bit and 64 bit options refer to the following Microsoft article: Can I upgrade from a 32-bit version of Windows to a 64-bit version of Windows 7 or from a 64-bit version of Windows 7 to a 32-bit version of Windows?
