Manually renew your Digital Certificate - Stage 3

Before commencing Stage 3, you must have completed Stage 2: Downloading your DC into your Web Browser

We recommend you print these instructions before starting.

Stage 3: Exporting your Digital Certificate to the LINZ Certificates folder on your computer's C: drive (local drive)

How to export your Digital Certificate to the LINZ Certificates Folder
Purpose	Export your Digital Certificate into the C:\LINZ Certificates folder on your local drive This is required for full functioning of Landonline.

Step	Description
1	On your Interet Explorer Tool Bar, select Tools Then select Internet Options
2	Select the Content tab Click Certificates
3	Select your Landonline Digital Certificate Click Export
4	Click Next
5	Select Yes, export the private key Click Next
Alert	If 'Yes, export the private key' option is greyed out, please call the Registration Authority team on 0800 ONLINE (0800 665 463) and select option 4 for immediate assistance.
6	Select Personal Information Exchange – PKCS #12 (.PFX) Select Include all certificates in the certification path if possible Select Enable stong protection Click Next Vista Users (note the order of the boxes to be ticked is different)
Alert	If these boxes are not ticked, your DC will not work. Please re-check both are ticked before proceeding
7	You now need to devise your unique DC passphrase. Please note: Your unique Digital Certificate passphrase must: Be different from your Landonline User ID Be different from your unique Landonline log on password Be at least eight characters long Contain at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter and one numeric character Have no one particular character making up more than half the characters in the password The passphrase for your new DC can be the same as your previous DC passphrase. Please note: This passphrase will also be used as your passphrase for Landonline e-dealing and e-survey certifying and signing purposes. Enter your unique DC passphrase Confirm it Click Next Note: Although the Export Wizard terms this as a Password this is your Landonline Passphrase that will be used during the certifying and signing process for e-dealing, e-survey and TA e-certification. You will also need to know this passphrase if you need to import your digital certificate at a later date.
8	Click Browse
9	Click on the drop down box beside 'Save In' Navigate to your C: Drive and then to your LINZ Certificate folder Enter your Landonline User ID into the File name field Click Save
10	Click Next
Note	Your Digital Certificate is now being exported from your web browser into the LINZ Certificates folder on your computer's C: drive
11	Click Finish
12	Click OK
13	If you can see the 'Certificate Export Wizard' screen, your export was successful Click OK If you cannot see the box, it will be hidden behind other windows. Minimise all other open windows and it should appear
Alert	If you are unable to see this box, please call the Customer Support team on 0800 ONLINE (0800 665 463) and select option 4 for immediate assistance DO NOT close the DC window or any open files
14	Click Close
15	Click OK
Note	You now need to rename the exported DC's file extension from .pfx to .p12.
16	Right click Start Select Explore
17	Go to your C: Drive and then your LINZ Certificates folder
18	Right click your Landonline Digital Certificate Select Rename
Alert	If you cannot see the file extension: Select Tools Select Folder Options Select View Tab Remove the tick against 'Hide file extension for known file types' Click Apply Click OK Close the window Return to Step 17 to select your LINZ Certificates folder
19	Change the file name extension from .pfx to .p12 For example: change 'joeuser003.pfx' to 'joeuser003.p12' Click Enter If a warning box appears, click Yes
Note	This completes the entire renewal process for your new Digital Certificate
