Landonline Release 3.2 update for surveyors
Landonline Maintenance Release 3.2 includes significant enhancements to Plan Generation that will assist users to better present both user defined and system generated diagrams.
Non Primary diagrams may now be separated into secondary or tertiary diagrams for ease of presentation. Boundary lines and labels of non required parcels can be hidden to give emphasis to selected Non Primary diagrams on both the Primary diagram and Non Primary diagram sheets.
Users will also be able to combine both Primary and Non Primary diagrams on a single diagram and to show Non Primary parcels in the survey sheet.
The differential between Primary and Non Primary boundary line weights has also been increased.
Maintenance changes
- MAR 1120 - Provide ability to split Non Primary diagrams into Secondary and Tertiary diagrams
- MAR 1256 - Increase the differential in line weights between Primary and Non Primary boundary lines
- MAR 1276 - Have "Minister of Local Government" added to the online list of Territorial Authorities
- MAR 1331 - Provide ability to combine Primary and Non Primary parcels in a single diagram and also provide ability to show Non Primary parcels in the survey sheet
- MAR 1413 - Set Default button to "No" for confirmation of destructive edit
- TPR 6141 - 'Send Approved Copy' of XML file, by email, to surveyors is not working
- TPR 11170 - TA can be incorrectly saved when it has been changed, and the user goes directly to Certification without first saving the change
MAR 1120 - Provide ability to split Non Primary diagrams into secondary and tertiary diagrams
| MAR 1120 Problem | Current plan generation functionality does not easily allow the user to show secondary and tertiary parcels separately. This is because Non Primary parcel boundary lines cannot be hidden in the Non Primary diagram. There is a desire to be able to define secondary and tertiary parcels separately. |
|---|---|
| MAR 1120 Outcome | For simplicity, the same icons for defining Non Primary diagrams in Define Diagrams have been retained. In Layout Sheets the existing Line selection icon is still used to select any line, including Non Primary boundary lines, in the Non Primary diagram. This change removes the restriction to hide Non Primary boundary lines. Users will also be able to have diagrams that show only one type of Non Primary parcel by hiding boundary lines (and labels) of other types. Users can only hide Primary and Non Primary lines on Non Primary diagrams. |
| MAR 1120 Action | Where you have secondary and tertiary parcels that overlap each other, create at least two similar User Defined Non Primary diagrams that encompass both these parcels in Define Diagrams – Spatial Window. Go into Maintain Diagram Layers and using any of the Non Primary diagrams, select the required layers you wish to see in Layout Sheets. What can be done on Non Primary diagrams?
Diagram 1 below shows how both a Tertiary parcel and Secondary parcel can be shown separately using the new functionality. Two Non Primary diagrams were created in Define Diagrams over the same area. Showing diagrams this way will help distinguish the actual boundaries for Tertiary and Secondary parcels. Diag. B on the left shows only the Tertiary parcel – hiding the Secondary parcel's A and D. Diag. C on the right, shows only the Secondary parcels A and D – hiding the Tertiary parcel B. What can be done on Primary diagrams? – refer MAR 1331 for more detail

MAR 1256 - Increase the differential in line weights between Primary and Non Primary boundary lines
| MAR 1256 Problem | Users have expressed difficulty distinguishing between Primary and Non Primary boundaries on DSP/DTP's particularly on the system created diagrams. They ask that more distinguishable line weights be introduced to alleviate this problem. Current point sizes reflect, as close as is possible, the current survey regulations and legacy standards. |
|---|---|
| MAR 1256 Outcome | The line weight of Non Primary lines has been changed from 1.4 to .7 and the line weight of adopted/calculated lines changed from .7 to .5 Now when Non Primary parcels are shown on the DSP or DTP they will be easier to identify. |
| MAR 1256 Conditions | Where Primary and Non Primary boundaries coincide, the line weight should remain for Primary line weight. |
MAR 1276 - Have "Minister of Local Government" added to the online list of Territorial Authorities
| MAR 1276 Problem | Some offshore islands lie outside the authority of traditional Territorial Authorities but fall within the jurisdiction of the Minister of Local Government or Minister of Conservation. These ministers have the same powers and functions as Territorial Authorities and Regional Councils. Surveys conducted on these islands need to associate the relevant ministry as the Territorial Authority. |
|---|---|
| MAR 1276 Outcome | The Minister of Local Government has been added to the list of Territorial Authorities contained within Landonline. A statistics meshblock exists in Landonline for the islands administered by the Minister of Local Government. The Islands affected are: Three Kings Islands Motiti Island Mayor Island Motunau (Plate Island) BOP Moutohora Island Tokata, Rurima and Moutoki Islands BOP White Island Bare Island Motunau Island, North Canterbury There is no spatially defined meshblock in Landonline for the remote islands administered by the Minister of Conservation, therefore this minister is not included in the list of Territorial Authorities. |
| MAR 1256 Actions | Note: This was released post Landonline 3.1 |
MAR 1331 - Provide ability to combine Primary and Non Primary parcels in a single diagram and also provide ability to show Non Primary parcels in the Survey sheet
| MAR 1331 Problem | Current Plan Generation functionality does not easily allow both Primary and Non Primary parcels (with dimensions) to be present in a single diagram. In some cases, however, it is sufficient to represent both types of parcels clearly in one diagram. Users want the ability to do this more easily. In addition, Primary parcel boundaries and appellations are currently available as an optional layer in the Survey Traverse diagrams but Non Primary parcels are not able to be selected to show on survey sheets. Users want the ability to show Non Primary parcel boundaries and appellations in the survey sheet when laying out Survey Traverse diagrams. |
|---|---|
| MAR 1331 Outcome | Combining Primary and Non Primary parcels into one diagramUsers can now show a combined diagram of Primary and Non Primary parcels by using the primary diagrams. The 'Non Primary Parcels', 'Non Primary Parcel Dimensions' and 'Centreline Parcels' layers will be made available as optional layers of the primary diagrams and can be added as required from Maintain Diagram Layers window. Any duplicated object will only be shown as one object (e.g. common observations). Being an optional layer, the Non Primary boundary lines may be hidden unless it is common to Primary boundary lines. Combining Traverse data, Primary and Non Primary parcels in one diagram in the survey sheetThe 'Primary Parcels', 'Non Primary Parcels' and 'Centreline Parcels' layers are now available as optional layers of the Survey Traverse diagrams. These layers can be added as required from the Maintain Diagram Layers window. Just like 'Primary Parcels' layer, the only labels available will be the Appellation labels (dimensions are not available). GeneralTo avoid showing Centreline Parcels' appellations without the line work, the Centreline Parcels layer will include the Centreline Parcel boundary lines. It is excluded from the Non Primary Parcels layer.Because Non Primary parcel boundaries have been made an optional layer, a new layer, 'Non Primary Boundary Marks' will be introduced as an optional layer for Primary and Survey Traverse diagrams to bring in the Non Primary Boundary Marks required by the boundaries. This new layer (Non Primary Boundary Marks) must be selected prior to bringing in any of the following optional layers:
![]() If one of the three abovementioned optional layers is selected before selecting Non Primary Boundary Marks, the system will not allow it to be added to the ‘Selected Layers' table. The arrow to add is greyed out. As shown in Diagram 3 below (applies to all Primary diagrams and Survey Traverse diagrams). ![]() Once all Non Primary Layers are added to the Selected Layers, and you wish to remove Non Primary Boundary Marks, you are unable to do so until all other Non Primary Parcel layers are removed first. Arrow to remove will be greyed out as shown in Diagram 4 below: ![]() Note: Non Primary diagrams are not affected by this change (MAR 1331) P rules have been adjusted to cater for both these changes (MAR 1120 and MAR 1331). Diagram 5 below shows the result of adding the Non Primary Parcel layers in Maintain Diagram Layers to Primary Diagrams. The System Generated Primary Diagram and User Define Primary Diagram have both been laid out on the Title Sheet in Layout Sheets. Diagram 6 below shows the result of adding the Non Primary Parcel layers in Maintain Diagram Layers to Survey Traverse diagrams. The System Generated Survey Traverse Diagram is by default laid out on the Survey Sheet in Layout Sheets. |
MAR 1413 - Set Default button to "No" for confirmation of destructive edit
| MAR 1413 Problem | There have been many instances where surveyors or enabled users have inadvertently deleted their datasets during survey preparation by unwittingly selecting "Yes" when the deletion confirmation message is displayed. Once this action has been undertaken the dataset can no longer be retrieved as it deletes the entire record from the Landonline tables. For LINZ staff, where requests are sent in for datasets to be withdrawn, the same principle will apply. |
|---|---|
| MAR 1413 Outcome | Externals: Where any action, inside e-survey Capture, is a form of destructive edit, the Default button in the message is now set to "No". This will ensure that the user has to select "Yes" if they really do wish to delete any dataset or record at Capture. An example of a destructive edit message box is shown below; note the wording may differ depending on where in the application the destructive edit is undertaken: ![]() The following list indicates the screens where the command/button is affected by this change, followed by the message that will appear when the destructive edit is requested – all buttons will now default to "No". CSL_S02 – Manage Survey Transaction Screen – Survey Information Tab
When LINZ receives a request to withdraw a plan from Landonline, this action is undertaken in the following screen. CAS_S08 Amend Survey State screen

TPR 6141 - 'Send Approved Copy' of XML file, by email, to surveyors is not working
| TPR 6141 Problem | When a surveyor ticks the '‘Send Approved Copy' checkbox and then selects the email radio button prior to submit, after the plan is approved the surveyor is not getting the requested approved XML file by email. |
|---|---|
| TPR 6141 Outcome | Surveyors, if requested, will now receive an email of the approved XML file. |
| TPR 6141 Actions | In the CSL_S02 Manage Survey Transaction Screen under the Submit tab check '‘Send Approved Copy' then select the email radio button prior to submitting.![]() After approval of your plan, you will be sent an email containing a copy of the approved XML file of your plan. |
TPR 11170 - TA can be incorrectly saved when it has been changed, and the user goes directly to Certification without first saving the change
| TPR 11170 Problem | Users have been reporting issues when changing a previously entered TA in the TA Certifications tab of CSL_S06 – Survey Lodgement screen.
It should be possible to change the TA prior to creating any Packages and Certificates. If the user changes the TA name from the dropdown list and proceeds directly to Certification without first saving that change, the new TA firm ID would not be saved. Only the TA ID would be saved. The new TA will not appear in the TA tab because the wrong TA firm ID (the original selection) remains associated with the record. The problem could be avoided by saving the change (Ctrl+S) before proceeding to Certification. |
|---|---|
| TPR 11170 Outcome | Both the TA firm ID and the TA ID will update when a change is made but not deliberately Saved. |
| TPR 11170 Actions | Users may now change a TA and proceed directly to Certification without first saving the change. N.B. Where Certification had already been prepared under the first and incorrect TA ID, the TA cannot be changed though the Certificates and Packages can be deleted. Where no Packages remain within that entry, the status will update to Complete. ![]() |
