Landonline Release 2.9 Update for Surveyors

The journey to 100% e-lodgement continues with Release 2.9, scheduled for May 2007, containing a number of enhancements as advised earlier in the February issue of Landwrap.

Release 2.9 primarily focusses on making Landonline easier for e-survey users. In particular, the plan generation tool will receive a number of improvements, detailed below.

To become familiar with all the changes in Release 2.9, we encourage you to discuss them with other Landonline users in your firm.

Changes to the e-survey application fall into two categories: functionality and general improvements within Landonline.

Changes to functionality

  1. The ability to manually exclude GPS and other traverse only observations at capture - this will create less clutter on Layout Sheets.
  2. Pre-Landonline (numbers less than 300,000) plans of Stage Unit Developments will now be able to be processed in Workspace, subject to previous stages being processed by LINZ.
  3. Filtering out and prevention of invalid characters in plan generation - surveyors will now be advised if their plan contains invalid characters when either the Save, OK or Complete options are selected in Plan Layout. This functionality will report a message (see below) to the user that invalid characters have been used. The system will automatically remove them from the Layout Sheet.
  4. The Capture spatial window 'Auto Refresh' default will be changed to 'off' rather than 'on'. This change in the default will provide better system performance for you as less refreshing of the spatial window will occur. If you need to redraw the spatial window, you will need to manually refresh. You can also reset your Auto Refresh setting to be on.
  5. The number of default layers that the Plan Generation Define Diagrams spatial window opens up with will be minimised - this too will improve system performance for you and give the ability to locate your captured survey more clearly. The only layers that will be visible within this window will be Linework, and Road Names. The Layers will not be able to be edited.
  6. Plan Generation Maintain Diagram Layer - this has provided the ability to split Existing Parcels into two layers i.e. existing appellation and existing boundaries. Surveyors will now be able to choose none, one or both of these layers.
  7. Plan Generation Define Diagrams - will now truncate the System Generated Survey Traverse Diagram where observations have been captured with either a Bearing only or Distance only, creating a less cluttered spatial view.

General improvements within Landonline

  1. The size of (number within) the Request Product List (RPL) will be limited - to assist with overall processing, each RPL will be limited to 15 items per request (as opposed to unlimited). This will allow faster processing of all the requests. You will still be able to undertake unlimited RPL requests.
  2. Updating of user details will only be available via a web form. This change will allow us to update user details throughout the relevant LINZ systems and not just Landonline e.g. customer support knowledge base. This means that some contact fields in the 'my details' screens within Landonline will be disabled.

Details of the system fixes to be undertaken will be provided closer to the time in the release notes (see below). At this stage, it is likely to include fixing the 'save' functionality in plan generation, which appears as a '9005, number 35' error to customers.

Standard release notes, user guides and updated quick reference cards with further details will be available on the Landonline website at the time of Release 2.9 delivery.
