100% e-lodgement Landonline Journey

1 May, 2007, the first e-dealing mandatory date, was the start of our journey to 100% e-lodgement.

Here we outline the steps we will take toward this goal. Knowing when the changes will take place and what information to look out for is important to help you plan. LINZ will keep this section up to date so that as future release dates are finalised you can find all the information you will need to know right here.

You will receive further information as each release date is confirmed. As each date gets closer the links below will take you to the Release Updates where you can find out just how the application is changing and the benefits for you. The presentations from our recent road shows are also available for you to download.

Most of the changes in 2.9 relate to the appearance, not the functionality, of Landonline. One key change is the ability to 'split' fees between firms (e.g. the vendor and the purchaser).

To find out more go to the Release Updates.
The key benefits you will see in Release 2.10:
  • Authority and Instruction forms can be populated within Landonline from the instruments you prepare
  • You can sign all your instruments in one e-dealing in a one step process
  • A further 17 discharges have been introduced. See a full list of e-capable instruments here.
To find out more go to the Release Updates or the 2.10 road show presentation - (pdf 784KB).

The key changes of this release are:

  • The addition of free text and images
  • More flexibility in current transactions (such as transfers over part of a title).

This means that all discharges, transfers and mortgages will be e-capable.

For further information the Release Updates are now available and can be viewed online, these updates explain to you in more detail what will become available in Release 3.0.

In a very small number of instances (ie. for less than four percent of all dealings), the information may not be in an electronic format (ie: paper). Uploading this information as part of the instrument will require the paper document to be scanned first. This is referred to as scanning (or scan).

Does your firm need a scanner?

For the rare occasions where the information required to complete an e-dealing transaction is only in a paper format, you will need to scan the document.

You have a number of options to scan the document...

  • Scan it into the correct file format so that you can upload the image to Landonline (see Adding information within Lodge dealings). If you have a scanner, check to see if it meets the recommended minimum requirements, or
  • Scan it into an electronic format and use the LINZ software to convert your image into the correct file format. You should ensure that your scanner can scan multiple pages into a single file and to the necessary quality (see the recommended minimum requirements for dpi), or
  • Arrange to have your document scanned by a third party provider into the correct file format so that you can upload the image to Landonline.

LINZ has prepared background information on adding information within Lodge dealings to assist. This includes scanning terminology, when to scan, scanners/scanner software known to be compatible with Landonline and FAQs about scanning.

Information about how to convert electronic files into the correct format so they can be uploaded as part of an instrument will be provided in early 2008.

For more information about Release 3.0, go to the Release Update or the 3.0 roadshow presentation - pdf (2MB).

Most land transactions will become e-capable. The key instruments being introduced include variation of mortgage, caveat, transmission, notice of claim, change of name, new titles and easements.
