TITLES NOT LINKED TO SPATIAL DATA

The Landonline Searches screen allows users to select a parcel in the spatial window and add the Related Title(s) to the tree using a function on the Map Utilities menu. Alternatively, a survey can be added to the tree, from which the Parcels branch can be opened, which can be opened to reveal any titles that may exist. These are the only ways that Landonline can be used to find the title directly from the survey record. Titles can be found more directly through other means, including the appellation or owner information.

In many cases spatial searching for a title will be successful. In a significant number of instances, Landonline will report "there are no related titles for the selected parcel(s)". This means LINZ has been unable to explicitly link the title to the survey parcel. This occurs where appellations used in the legal description on the title differed from the appellation for the parcel(s) (as originally recorded in the DCDB) meaning that a link could not be made during Titles Conversion. This most commonly occurs on appellations that are non-standard, (ie: not a Lot on a DP, or a Section on a SO plan). Where the link has not been made a new parcel record is created that has the link to the title, but has no spatial representation.
