PRE-VALIDATION

An e-survey can be pre-validated against the automated LINZ business rules. Pre-validation identifies potential inconsistencies in the e-survey.

The results of the pre-validation are listed in a report. The report outlines the rules that have identified potential conflicts, together with the severity and also the rules that have run without identifying conflict. This enables resolution of conflicts prior to submission of the e-survey.

The four levels of severity are:

Fatal Fatal will prevent submission of the e-survey.
Conflict Conflict will require resolution before approval as to survey.
Warning Warning draws the attention to a rule that may have a potential conflict.

The automated business rules run during pre-validation are identical to the automated rules run by validation staff in LINZ. If all matters identified in the reports are addressed in some way (either by correction of an error or by explanation in the survey report), the validation in LINZ will be much smoother.

In addition, the pre-validation report lists all of the manual rules that are potentially applicable to a survey of this type. Some of these may not apply to a particular survey. It identifies the items that will be assessed manually by LINZ validation staff and can assist with pre-lodgement checks of the e-survey.
