IRREGULAR BOUNDARIESIrregular lines are represented in Landonline as sets of coordinated intermediate points between observed points. The set of coordinated points is also known as a line string. The coordinates of these points are not absolute; their main purpose is to represent the shape of the line. For example, if an adjustment of the cadastre results in the observed end points of the line string being shifted, all the intermediate points will be shifted, scaled and rotated to fit the new positions of the end points and maintain the general shape of the irregular line. The end points of a section of irregular boundary must have observations to them. These may be boundary dimensions (eg. to the point where a right-line boundary intersects an irregular boundary) or an observed fix of the irregular boundary. Many parcels in Landonline already have irregular boundaries.
These may have come from conversion of DCDB data or from earlier surveys
lodged into Landonline. All parcels of land affected by a change in the irregular boundary must be included in the e-survey. Descriptions are required to be recorded for irregular boundary lines. Use an Annotation to describe the irregular boundary, and use a Line to indicate the relationship between the annotation and the irregular line. To add or adopt an irregular boundary into an e-survey, the user switches between the captured e-survey and a scanned image of an irregular boundary. The irregular boundary can be digitised from the image and return the user back to Landonline to view the digitised boundary within the e-survey. Merge Irregular Lines is used when part of the existing irregular line will be adopted and part will be replaced because some of it has a new definition, determined by survey, (eg by fieldwork or aerial photo). The existing line is merged with the new definition. Landonlineautomatically places the irregular line into the Primary layer. Maintain Boundary Layer is used to edit the layer for the captured boundary.
