Reclassification of order 5 (5a) control marks update

As advised in the March edition of Landwrap, a large number of order 5 control marks have been reclassified to order 6. This change has been made so that the stated order of the coordinates better reflects their accuracy. The coordinates themselves have not changed.

Affected coordinates were generated from survey control traverses and were commonly known as 5a. Reclassification took place on Saturday 8 May, resulting in 56,500 coordinates having their order changed from 5 to 6. This leaves about 16,500 order 5 coordinates in Landonline. These coordinates have been generated from GPS surveys and were commonly known as 5b.

Marks affected by this change will remain in the Geodetic Database. Order 6 coordinates affected will have the reference ‘LINZ Geodetic NZGD2000 Order 5a Reclassification adjustment’.
