Transitioning to the new Rules

Changes to New Zealand's cadastral survey rules may impact on the work of territorial authorities with surveyors and Landonline TA e-certification.

The new Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 (2010 Rules) will replace the previous 2002/2 Rules. The go-live date for the 2010 Rules and Landonline Release 3.4 is currently planned for 24 May 2010.

Changes you may notice leading up to and after the implementation include:

  • A short-term increase in the volume of RMA certification requests due to surveyors being encouraged to lodge surveys well in advance of the 2010 Rules implementation date. Closer to 24 May, surveyors may request that their RMA certifications be processed quickly so they have the certification when the plan is lodged.
  • More information on the impacts of the 2010 Rules on land professionals are outlined in the November/December issue of Landwrap.

For more information, including a comprehensive list of changes, see the New Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 section on the LINZ website. Otherwise, feel free to email newcadastralrules@linz.govt.nz with any queries.
