Landonline Release 3.2 overview

Landonline Release 3.2 is scheduled for 25 May 2009 and is the first of two maintenance releases planned for this year. Release 3.2 contains enhancements affecting all Landonline customers as well as enhancements specific to both conveyancers and surveyors.

For all Landonline customers...

Release 3.2 will implement a new system for the creation and delivery of Landonline notices. Notices may be due to a statutory requirement such as a caveat notice, or to advise a changed transaction status such as the approval of a cadastral survey dataset. The main changes are:

  • Notices will be delivered by email as the preferred method of delivery, and only occasionally by post, e.g. where physical attachments are required
  • Notices will no longer be delivered by fax
  • Some screen layouts will change such as My Details and System Management
  • An online notice viewer
  • A Notices icon in Workspace

The system will select a default delivery address for notices. Customers will be able to change this after Release 3.2 to suit your requirements, e.g. to receive notices by e-mail or via Landonline.

Update your contact details

To help make the notice delivery process as efficient as possible, you need to check/amend your details in Landonline (via My Details), including:

  • email address
  • postal address, and
  • postcode

BEFORE Release 3.2 goes live on 25 May. See the instructions on how to change your contact details in Landonline on this website.

Note you will not receive Landonline notices by email if your email address is incorrect.

For conveyancing customers...

New features being introduced include:

  • e-dealing requests – in response to customer feedback, Release 3.2 introduces e-dealing requests. Customers will have the ability to complete common requests electronically via their Landonline Workspace and be able to track what stage they are at. The following request types will be available to choose from:
    • Titles - Correction
    • Titles - Correction Prevents Registration
    • Titles - Dealing Correspondence
    • Titles - Application to sustain caveat (S145 / A145)
    • Titles - Requisition / Rejection Clarification
    • Titles - Requisition / Rejection Review
    • Titles - TA Amalgamation Consultation
    • Titles - Trustee Change
    • Titles - Withdraw Instrument
    • Titles - Withdraw Dealing
  • Create Dealing screen – a new column in the Create Dealing screen will identify an instrument that requires an Authority and Instruction form.

For surveying customers...

Changes to diagram layouts within Plan Generation

In response to customer feedback, Release 3.2 includes changes to diagram layouts within Plan Generation. Surveying customers will have the ability to:

  • split non-primary diagrams into secondary and tertiary diagrams
  • combine primary and non-primary parcels in a single diagram
  • show non-primary parcels in the survey sheet

Previously, Plan Generation did not allow surveying customers to show secondary and tertiary parcels separately.

Detailed information on changes to Landonline for Release 3.2 will be published in the Landonline Systems Updates section on this website in early May.

Browsing network drives to attach images and documents

Attaching images or documents into Landonline is a key function for many Landonline customers.

Conveyancers required this functionality with the introduction in September 2008 of a number of new instruments, including the Lodge with Image and Lodge with Template. These instruments require customers to attach images or files into Landonline and most customers temporarily store files on their local drives prior to attaching.

Surveyors follow the same process to attach supporting documents to cadastral survey datasets.

Customer feedback indicates that most firms on networks would prefer to browse directly into their network drives. This would fit best with their firm's IT policy, and reduce the additional 'housekeeping' required to ensure these folders are managed properly.

LINZ has recently tested and trialled a solution that in most cases will enable firms to access their network drives. This will make version control easier and firms can avoid using their local or system drives to undertake this task.

Detailed instructions have been added to the system support section on the Landonline website as a new frequently asked question How do I browse my network drives to attach an image? These instructions apply to both new and existing Landonline firms.

A small number of customers with more complex (locked down) environments have required an additional step to allow their firm to successfully browse their network. In this situation, please ask your IT systems administrator to contact LINZ Customer Support on 0800 ONLINE (0800 665 463) and we will provide more technical information.

Digital Certificate and passphrase reminder

When downloading a Digital Certificate (DC), you will be prompted to create a passphrase. This passphrase can be the same as previously used; however, if you do enter a new passphrase, you will need to use this when completing digital signing.

Note that if you follow the manual process to download a DC, the passphrase will be referred to as the 'password'.

DC security

To help ensure the security of the database, you must not have multiple copies of your DC for any purpose other than Disaster Recovery. In addition, your DC must not be installed on more than one PC.

For more information, refer to article Backing up digital certificates – what's allowed and what's not in the August 2006 edition of Landwrap.
