How to sign-up

How to Sign up

When your firm signs up for Landonline, you must choose the services you want to use, and the number of licences you will need.

Sign-up takes place online and the Sign-up section will take you through the process step by step.

Before signing up, you will need to decide on some key elements of the process.

Roles

Perhaps the most important is the assignment of certain roles to members of your firm. As well as naming Landonline Users who will be those accessing Landonline with the licences you purchase, you will need to nominate a Trusted Contact, Management Contact, and System Manager.

A Trusted Contact is the person in your firm who will receive part of the Digital Certificate code for each individual user and who will be the person LINZ will contact if questions about identity arise. (The Trusted Contact may be any member of the firm and does not have to be a Landonline User).

The Management Contact will be contacted by LINZ when urgent problems relating to Digital Certificates arise and the Trusted Contact is not available. This person does not have to be a Landonline user.

The System Manager is authorised to administer the firm's Landonline details and modify the details and privileges of individual users. The System Manager must be a Landonline User.

You will also need to provide a Billing Contact for enquiries about the credit account which will be set up so that fees for lodgements and searches in Landonline can be billed to your firm.

Finally if you are a survey firm, you may name any contractors your firm employs so that fees for manual lodgements made by the contractor can be charged to your firm's account.

Proof of Identity

Each Landonline User must supply Proof of Identity (POI) before they can receive Digital Certificates. The Trusted Contacts and Management Contacts also need to supply POI. The Proof can be supplied in three forms which must be current. The options are:

  • a passport
  • a driver's licence
  • a firearms licence.

During sign-up you will download forms for POI which need to be certified and mailed to LINZ before Digital Certificates can be issued. Note that the names of users you supply online during sign-up must exactly match their name as it is given on their POI.

Other Sign-up options

If any of your staff have used Landonline before (at a previous firm, for example), they are exempt from the new user set up charge. They may also already have a Digital Certificate which they can transfer to use at your firm.

At the beginning of Sign-up you will be asked to agree to the Landonline Digital Certificate User Obligations and the Terms and Conditions.

Finally, if you are paying for sign-up by credit card, you will need to have the card details available at the end of the process.

Please note, the Sign-up process is preceded by a checklist outlining all the information you should have to hand so that you can complete the process in the most efficient way: using it to make sure you are fully prepared to begin sign-up will save you time. There are also help notes and prompts within the sign-up form.
